EXCLUSIVE: We learned that Columbia Pictures has elevated Brittany Morrissey to SVP Production. She will report to Sanford Panitch, chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group.
Morrissey was previously VP Production at Columbia. Recently, she developed and oversaw the production of the studio’s upcoming feature film Brad Pitt. High-speed train, directed by David Leitch. The Japanese bestselling novel the film is based on was chosen by Morrissey when it was only an unpublished English translation.
In addition, she recently supervised 65, a sci-fi thriller starring Adam Driver and directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, the duo that wrote the $ 341 million hit A quiet place. Other projects led by Morrissey include Paternity, the Kevin Hart comedy-drama coming to Netflix this Father’s Day; and Escape room 2, the sequel to Adam Robitel’s 2019 hit psychological thriller is slated for release on July 16.
Morrissey began her career with New Regency and Fox, the latter being where she first spotted and championed YA’s bestselling novel. Maze runner, which has grown into a blockbuster movie franchise grossing over $ 900 million at the global box office. She then joined Davis Entertainment in 2010 and became Vice President before joining Sony Pictures in 2016.
