Cole Palmer should not receive a goal bonus.

The Chelsea star is level with Manchester City favorite Erling Haaland in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot after scoring four goals in the Blues’ thrilling win over Everton on Monday night.

But The Sun reports that regardless of whether he claims the prize or not, no extra money will be paid to him as Palmer did not negotiate a bonus in the deal that brought him to Stamford Bridge in the summer last.

The 21-year-old attended Manchester City’s youth academy before making 41 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Despite being highly rated by City, Palmer made the decision to leave the treble winners as he looked to hit the ground running and prove he was one of the best players in the Premier League.

Given that he would have been competing with Phil Foden, Julian Alvarez, Bernardo Silva, Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku for a starting place, few could blame him.

However, Palmer’s time at Chelsea has exceeded all expectations.

Joining for just £42 million, the striker has scored an incredible 23 goals in all competitions, including 20 in the Premier League.

This total puts him on par with Manchester City striker Haaland, meaning he must surely be considered one of the deadliest strikers in world football.

Unfortunately for him, he will not receive any form of bonus based on the goals he scores for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Given the high number of strikes he’s taken this season, Palmer will no doubt be resentful of this dismissal.

Palmer and Chelsea are next in action on Saturday when the Blues take on Manchester City at Wembley for a place in the FA Cup final, live on talkSPORT.
