Feminist author Clementine Ford has lashed out at the newlyweds of Married at First Sight 2022, calling one man ‘scary’ and another ’emotionally shallow’.

The social critic, known for her bestselling books Fight Like a Girl and Boys Will Be Boys, shared her views in a lengthy Instagram Story video on Monday night as she sat down to watch the MAFS season premiere.

Her first target was groom Anthony Cincotta, who in his intro package claimed he was going from “zero to 100” in his relationships.

Marking that statement as a ‘red flag’, Clementine said: ‘Someone who says to you, ‘I go from zero to 100 and I’m an old school romantic and I always lead and I always open the door and I always pay for things’, that doesn’t tell you much about what they think of who you are.’

“It tells you how they want to see themselves in a relationship. And to me, I always feel like those are huge red flags,” she warned.

She also claimed it was “strange and scary” that Anthony referred to his new wife Selin Mengu as his “best friend” during her vows, despite having never met her before.

Clementine then turned her attention to groom Brent Vitiello, who called his wife “spoiled” and a “psychopath” after they got married in a car accident on Monday night.

Tamara raised her eyebrows as she said she wouldn’t date someone who works in retail because it was ‘below her’ and she deserved an ambitious and successful man.

Brent – who admitted he was worried he wasn’t attracted to his new bride’s feet – went on to call his new bride ‘spoiled’ and a ‘psychopath’.

While the show was quick to cast Tamara as a “bad guy,” Clementine was quick to defend her.

“I’m really thrilled that they’re casting Tamara as an insufferable demon because she has minimal standards for what she expects from a partner,” Clementine said.

“And to favor … a man who not only didn’t wear socks to his own wedding, but who is so emotionally superficial that the biggest thing he fears seems to be a woman with unattractive feet. I mean, he’s still going to fuck her, she added, rolling her eyes.

She continued to call what she believes to be a double standard between how difficult men and women are portrayed.

“He’s a type of man, and they 100% expect women to look a certain way, behave a certain way, and complete a certain checklist for them to be attracted to. them and that they feel like it’s worth pursuing a relationship,” she said.

“I’m not saying this as a huge defense for Tamara…but I’m really sick of the women with high standards on these shows being portrayed as somehow unreasonable, irrational and entitled and spoiled, as Brent called her. .”

“Whereas men who express the same expectations of behavior, performance and appearance, just as a rule of thumb…that’s fine.” It is never seen as something untoward.
