The Kenmare Honkers are the only undefeated team in Class B women’s basketball, rewarding them with a state tournament trip.
It’s the first time in a decade that head coach Mike Zimmer says he’s excited and happy to be here, but the job isn’t done. The Honkers are aiming for the state title, but know it won’t be an easy region against five champions at Wilton-Wing. The Honkers’ main focus will be sophomore Hailey Quam knowing that she will be the primary target of the underage attack.
“Try to help her overtake her team, pinch her and keep her out of the glass because she’s an athlete watching her on a movie and she’s definitely our goal,” says head coach Mike Zimmer.
“Catch her, just play a good defense against everyone and trap her when she receives the ball,” said 8th grade goaltender MaShae Miller.
“We have to help her at the high position so that she can’t drive, then we have to get back to their shooters on the three-point line,” says Junior Guard Brooklyn Rodin.
