Christina Applegate’s upcoming appearance at the 2023 Screen Actors Guild Awards could be the last awards show she will attend as an active actress.
“This is probably my last award show as an actor, so that’s a big deal,” the Married with Child star revealed to the LA Times.
“Right now, I couldn’t imagine getting up at 5 a.m. and spending 12-14 hours on set; I don’t have that in me right now.
The actress, 51, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) while filming the third and final season of Netflix’s hit series Dead To Me in August 2021.
Her role as cynical widow Jen Harding earned her a SAG nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series.

Although she’s taking a step back from acting, Christina told the publication that she’s been pursuing voice-over work.
“Doing a ton of voiceovers to earn money to make sure my daughter is fed and we’re home,” she joked.
Dead To Me premiered in 2019 and aired its last episode in November 2022.
The comedy series follows Jen (Christina) who, after losing her husband in a hit-and-run, meets his widow Judy Hale (Linda Cardellini) during a grief counseling session.
The duo form an unlikely friendship that leads Jen to make Judy a part of her life and that of her children.
But drama unfolds when it is revealed that Judy is harboring a dark secret that will change life as they know it.
In her chat with the LA Times, Christina said she was “an everyday wreck” as she filmed the final season of Dead To Me while “struggling” with her MS symptoms.
“But most of that wreckage would be in my trailer by myself,” she recalled.
Production took a five-month hiatus shortly so she could undergo the treatment she needed.

Filming resumed in early 2022 and wrapped in February.
“There were times when I would break down on set and say, ‘I can’t, we have to take a break, I need half an hour,’ and everyone was so loving that it was okay,” she continued.
Christina praised the show’s “incredible” cast and crew for providing her with the support and understanding she needed to get through the difficult filming.
Multiple sclerosis is a disease in which the immune system eats away at the protective covering of the nerves and interrupts the flow of information between the brain and the body.
Christina’s diagnosis came after years of neglected symptoms, including balance/mobility issues as well as tingling and numbness in her arms and legs.
The Sweetest Thing actress now struggles to walk without the support of a cane, which she previously described as her “new normal.” The treatment and his lack of mobility led to weight gain.

Christina previously battled breast cancer in 2008, which led to her having a double mastectomy. She had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed in 2017.
The actress admitted that it was extremely painful to watch herself in the third season of Dead To Me.
“I don’t like to see myself struggling,” she explained. “Also, I gained 40 pounds from inactivity and medication, and I didn’t look like myself, and I didn’t feel like myself.”
“At some point, I was able to distance myself from my own ego and realize what beautiful television this was.

Christina made her first appearance at an awards show since being diagnosed with MS at the Critics’ Choice Awards in January, where she was nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for Dead To Me.
She was accompanied by her daughter Sadie, 12.
In November, Christina received a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, which was her “first outing since being diagnosed with MS,” she said in a tweet.
The SAG Awards will take place on Sunday, February 26.
