“Last year was a real eye opener,” he said. “I was like, ‘Who am I without Wembley Stadium, saying you’re awesome?’
“I’m trying in my life right now not to get too attached to being a pop star. I try not to value myself through external validation.
Mailonline has contacted a spokesperson for Kwik Save for comment.
However, the band will be playing live again soon. They are due to open the Brit Awards this week, playing on a houseboat in the middle of the Thames.
Then, on May 22, they will take the stage in Glastonbury, as part of a livestream which replaces this year’s festival.
Coldplay has been on the front page of the event three times before – and Martin said he has a tradition of visiting the site, which is a working farm, before playing to envision what their ensemble will look like.
“I like to go down in the winter and climb the pyramid, sit there and think about what we’re going to do,” he said.
“I just look at the cows and the grass and think, ‘Okay, I guess you’re people.’
“But this year we just have to treat them like cows and grass and play with them. And I’m in it.
“You know, every member of the audience is special, whether human or bovine. We’re going to put on a great show – and no one will be there!
