You see, as the Avengers actor revealed his last gig, starring in what is arguably one of Netflix’s greatest movies, he also suggested he was a huge Barb – so his fans have something to say about it, anyway.
Sharing the news that he would be playing alongside Bridgerton’s Rege-Jean Page and Knives Out co-star Ana de Armas in The Gray Man, Chris uploaded a casting sheet to his originally uploaded Instagram Stories by AGBO films.
He could have left it there and moved on, maybe add a little gif of himself in a white cable-knit sweater to make us all warm under the collar.
He might have. But what did he do instead? He shared the news with the support of Nicki Minaj’s Yikes, seemingly posing as a big old Barb if Twitter and the speed whipsmart his name has started trending is to be believed.
For those who aren’t up to the cool kid lingo (spoiler, that’s not cool kid lingo), a Barb is the name given to a Nicki Minaj fan, who plural is Barbz.
And you better bet fans would notice her little song and get excited sharing their thoughts on social media.
One emotional fan wrote: ‘The fact that Chris Evans used a Nicki Minaj song in his story takes the f ** k off me. I don’t know it was a Barb.
They were joined by whoever praised their ‘baby’ Chris Evans: ‘It’s not my baby Chris Evans that’s a barbel. it has taste, it is true.
However, there is always a fan who is going to burst the bubble we were all rolling in, as one of them pointed out: “ He didn’t choose this song, it’s a repost, so the song comes from the original story of agbofilms. ”
But he, like, could have do not picked the song, right?
Another cried: ‘I was like “Chris Evans has barb ??” But no, he’s just reposting.
Either way, we can all celebrate The Gray Man’s announcement, as we’ve been fortunate enough to hear about the Russo Brothers’ upcoming action thriller for the streaming giant.
The spy film follows a former CIA agent turned freelance assassin named Court Gentry (played by Ryan Gosling) – also known as The Gray Man – who is hunted across the world by his former CIA cohort Lloyd. Hansen (our “ baby ” Chris Evans).
Ana, Wagner Moura, Jessica Henwick, Dhanush and Julia Butters also make up the cast, alongside Bridgerton’s Rege-Jean, because how many stars can you fit into a movie? It’s infinite.
Filming has been delayed due to the Covie-19 pandemic, but is expected to start in the coming weeks.
The Russo brothers – Anthony and Joseph Russo – had previously confirmed that the film would launch a franchise.
Joe said: ‘What we do on Gray Man is different [is] … We will not answer all of the questions in the first film. This is designed as a series of movies and, again, potentially branching out, we could follow other characters, but we won’t answer all of the questions in the movie.
‘So you’re going to finish the movie, [and] have a full story, but you will always have questions about the larger universe. And I think that’s a way to break the model a bit, it’s not to give the audience everything in one movie. Don’t have a closed story. Have an open narrative that [like] a chapter in a book.
