Chris Eubank Jr backed Canelo Alvarez to beat Billy Joe Saunders in Texas on Saturday night – and he put his money where it was.
The British fighter aims to do something that only Floyd Mayweather has done before, and which has beaten Canelo.
Amir Khan, Callum Smith and Liam Smith are among six Britons who tried, and failed, to win over the Mexican.
The 30-year-old is the clear favorite to win for the 56th time in his career, having lost once and drawn two more fights.
Eubank Jr, who beat Marcus Morrison in the Derek Chisora vs Joseph Parker undercard on Saturday, provided proof of a £ 10,000 bet he placed on the upcoming fight.
He wrote on Twitter: “The bet has been placed! Billy Schmoe Saunders will be cleaned by Canelo Alvarez this Saturday. Oh… and the 10k I’m going to win will all go to charity. “
That’s if the fight continues this weekend as a dispute over the size of the ring rumbles.
Canelo initially wanted an 18-foot version, while Saunders hoped for a 24-foot equivalent.
The elusive Briton is expected to attempt to use his skills and moves to defeat the King pound for pound, but he’ll need as much space as possible to dodge his onslaught.
Canelo agreed to climb 20 feet, while Saunders fell to 22 feet, but currently no one is ready to move further.
Saunders’ father Tom claimed the fight was over because of the dispute when the Briton failed to show up for his first clash of the week in the fight.
Canelo, however, is adamant the fight will continue.
He said, “I don’t care about the size of the ring, I’m just going to go out there and do my job. This is not the only excuse he had, he had plenty of excuses… He has to fight on Saturday. The fight is going to take place, that’s not a problem.
