BEIJING, September 28, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — A forum for cultural exchange between China and Argentina was held in beijing Wednesday with senior officials from both countries pledging to advance the concept of a community with a shared future for humanity.
The China-Argentina High-Level Forum on Cultural Exchange comes as the two countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties. Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Argentinian counterpart Alberto Fernandez sent letters of congratulations to the forum.
For half a century, China–Argentina The relationship has endured the tests posed by the changing international environment, illustrating the unity and mutual development between developing countries and emerging economies, Xi said in his letter.
Fernandez said the highly accomplished media cooperation between the two countries has increased the mutual understanding between the two peoples, and he looks forward to deepening bilateral cooperation to further strengthen the China–Argentina comprehensive strategic partnership.
More than 100 representatives from China and Argentina attended the forum, jointly organized by China Media Group and argentina National public media. It was also part of a series of events in 2022 marking the friendship between the two countries.
The letters of congratulations testified to the high appreciation of the two presidents for China–Argentina cooperation in the new era, and provided important guidance for this forum, said Huang Kunming, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee at the event.
Huang called on the peoples of the two countries to act as advocates for peaceful development, promote common values for humanity and inject more positive energy into building a shared community in the new era.
The numerous agreements concluded between the two countries, such as a cooperation agreement between argentina Province of Buenos Aires and China Sichuan Provincewill further enhance bilateral trade and financial cooperation, said Argentine Foreign Minister Cafe Santiago said on the forum.
Buenos Aires and Sichuan are important economic provinces, Cafiero said, adding that their collaboration marks a great achievement in China–Argentina comprehensive strategic partnership.
China and Argentina established diplomatic relations in March 1972. According to the principles of the Non-Aligned Movement, the two countries have made significant progress in pursuing a cooperative agenda.
In 2004, the two countries signed a series of agreements, significantly strengthening economic cooperation. Bilateral trade has grown rapidly over the past two decades, China become argentina biggest trading partner April 2020.
In November 2018President Xi paid a state visit to Argentina where he also attended the Group of 20 Summit. More than 30 agricultural and investment agreements were announced during this visit.
In a letter to Xi in January 2022Fernandez said countries should stand united, respect and support each other against the disruptions of the pandemic, and commit to building a community with a shared future for humanity, a concept proposed by the Chinese president.
Fernandez then attended the opening ceremony of the 2022 Winter Olympics in beijingwhere Chinese and Argentinian officials also signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), making the Latin American country an official BRI partner.
Besides the MoU, the two countries also signed cooperation documents in more than ten areas, including green development, digital economy, aerospace, BeiDou satellite navigation system, technological innovation and farming.
