Chilean Joaquin Niemann added to his growing reputation by winning LIV Golf’s Jeddah Invitational by four strokes.

The 25-year-old won the Australian Open in December and was invited to play at the Masters after three top-five finishes on the DP World Tour.

He won his second title in three LIV Tour starts this season, closing with a four-under 66 to finish with a 17-under score after three rounds in Saudi Arabia.

South Africans Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel were tied for second.

Schwartzel finished with a 68 but it was Oosthuizen, the 2010 Open champion, who was Niemann’s closest challenger before dropping a shot on the 16th.

He finished with consecutive birdies to post a 67, but Niemann matched his score on the 17th and 18th holes to claim a comfortable victory.

The Chilean was asked if he felt like he was one of the “hottest golfers” in the world after his recent performances.

“How is this possible? I’m ranked 100th in the world,” said Niemann, who is currently 72nd in the latest world rankings but cannot earn ranking points for his performances in LIV tournaments.

He added: “I’m pretty proud of the way I played all week.”

American Bryson DeChambeau, winner of the 2020 US Open, finished in fourth place at 12 under, while Spain’s reigning Masters champion Jon Rahm was one stroke behind fifth place.

Anthony Kim, the American golfer who rejoined the tour last week after a 12-year absence from the professional game, finished last at 16 over par, 11 strokes behind his nearest competitor.
