The death toll in the UK has increased from 14 to 71 today, with the number of people who test positive for coronavirus in the UK reaching 1,950 at 9:00 a.m. compared to 1,543 yesterday.
Professor Neil Ferguson, an Imperial College scientist who advised the government on the coronavirus, said closing schools and universities could slow the spread of the coronavirus, but warned of the uncertainties and negative effects of ‘such a decision on the NHS.
He told BBC Radio 4 Today: “From a purely epidemiological point of view, we are very concerned that closing schools and universities would further reduce transmission.
