The Kansas City Chiefs are struggling with injuries, and on Wednesday saw a potential start crumble with a problem. During the drills, Mecole Hardman was carried off the pitch after injuring his left leg, by The Athletic.
The play would have taken place during the red zone period, when Hardman jumped for a reception and landed awkwardly. He hobbled to the white medical tent, then was carried off the field. By arrowhead prideHardman was able to limp on his own, which is remarkable.
With the loss of Tyreek Hill, Hardman is the returning wide receiver who will be asked to step up Andy Reid’s offense. Last year, he caught a career-high 59 passes for 693 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed eight times for 46 yards. Last year in the AFC Championship Game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Hardman caught three passes for 52 yards and a touchdown.
Fellow wide JuJu Smith-Schuster is also struggling and has now missed two days with knee pain, according to multiple reports. He and Hardman, along with Marquez Valdes-Scantling, should be Patrick Mahomes’ top three players.
