Some football club owners are happy to sit in the background and rarely engage with their fans or the media.

Charlton Athletic owner Thomas Sandgaard is certainly not one of them.

Sandgaard finalized its Charlton buyout last year

The Danish / American businessman has released a new song called “Addicks to Victory” ahead of League One’s new season.

Sandgaard hopes he becomes the club’s new “fight song” and “pump” us up on match days.

“It’s Charlton’s ‘fight song’,” Sandgaard explained.

“It started out as one of the many songs our band wrote and it occurred to me that we could write the lyrics to make it special for Charlton.

“As a lot of people know, next to football music is my passion and it was a lot of fun being in the studio putting this song together and I hope she can play her part on match day for us. inflate and lead us into victory at La Vallée!

Regardless of the fans’ opinions on the song, the club’s current state is a far cry from where they found it last year.

Sandgaard bought the League One club from East Street Investments in October and provided much needed stability for The Valley.

Charlton’s future was in doubt when three people from ESI failed the English Football League managers and owners test in August.

ESI only bought Charlton from Roland Duchatelet for £ 1 in January, with a deal to buy the training ground and The Valley for £ 50million later.

Ownership of the company was then transferred from Tahnoon Nimer to Manchester businessman Paul Elliott in June.

However, this request was rejected by the EFL after three people failed the test of their owners and directors.

The situation became more complex when Elliott then applied for an injunction to prevent the club from being sold to someone else as Sandgaard entered the scene.

Sandgaard was able to finalize his takeover, however, with a 15-year deal in place on the training ground and The Valley with Duchatelet.
