Channel 10 remains optimistic about the future of The Amazing Race Australia and The Treaters despite their disappointing ratings.
Paramount ANZ’s Daniel Monaghan told TV Tonight that they were keen to support both shows because of their high quality and critical acclaim.
“Traitors didn’t set our world on fire last year, but it was such a well-done series…I think it deserves more attention,” he said.

Monaghan said The Traitors “deserved more viewership” and praised the production company for the way they put the series together.
“I think when you put on something like The Traitors and it doesn’t make as many numbers as you think it deserves, you would look at the quality of the show and think, ‘Can you expand it?
‘That’s what we’re going to assess…. especially with performance [of the UK series]. He deserves better.’
Monaghan said the same about The Amazing Race Australia, which provided decent but not overly impressive numbers for the network.
‘The Amazing Race Australia is one of the biggest formats in the world. I think it’s worth coming back to. We certainly review it the same way we review The Treaters,’ he said.

Channel 10’s third season of The Amazing Race Australia premiered to 451,000 Tube viewers last year.
Casting is currently underway for a second season of The Traitors despite the series debuting to middling ratings last October.
Last week, 10Play published a call for contestants to “play the ultimate game of strategy and deception”.
While the series struggled in Australia, it was a blockbuster hit across Europe and became a sensation in the UK and America.

The Australian series also received critical acclaim, despite the fact that few people watched it.
It was voted one of the best new shows of 2022 by industry blog TV Tonight and wowed viewers on social media.
“I don’t understand why people watch anything other than #TraitorsAU, it’s literally the best thing on TV right now,” one said.
“#TraitorsAU is the best show Channel 10 has offered,” tweeted another.
‘#TraitorsAU One of the best reality TV shows. Very clever. He has to come back for a second season,’ one added.

The Traitors was named the best reality show in years by critics and received praise on social media despite low ratings in Australia.

UK critics were impressed with the addictive series, with Christopher Stevens of the Daily Mail calling it “the best thing on television for 20 years”.
American audiences were also impressed after a semi-celebrity version launched on the Peacock streaming service earlier this month.
Featuring a mix of civilians and stars, including Real Housewife Brandi Glanville and former bachelor and Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte, the series hosted by Alan Cumming stunned viewers and TV critics alike.
