Matchday 2 of Champions League Matchday 3 began with a bittersweet 3-1 win for RB Leipzig over Celtic at home. While victory is important for RB Leipzig to secure their first UCL group stage win, injuries to Peter Gulacsi and David Raum will worry manager Marco Rose. Celtic played a solid game but they couldn’t contain the German team despite two goals being ruled out for offside. RB Salzburg completed the Red Bull double with victory over Dinamo Zagreb. Noah Okafor’s penalty was enough to see them through as Josip Drimic thought he had equalized in stoppage time but it was called off due to offside.
The clash between Chelsea and AC Milan is making headlines on the late slate, but there’s plenty of intrigue to be had. Milan can step into the driver’s seat to qualify for the knockout stage. Paris Saint-Germain are also in action visiting Benfica in a game between the two group leaders. Sevilla also have what should be an exciting game with Borussia Dortmund as rumors swirl around manager Julen Lopetegui’s future. Will he have full focus on the game with a Premier League option with Wolves showing up?
