So far this has been shaping up to be the winter men’s World Cup of our displeasure…but if injuries and results get you down, there’s another exciting competition to look forward to! Bayern Munich take on FC Barcelona today at 12:45 PM EST in the Women’s Champions League, because of course the draw brought those two clubs together again.
Even better, the game is streamed live on YouTube via DAZN. So watch and join the comments below!
Game preview:
FCB Frauen have had their ups and downs in new coach Alexander Straus’ first season. They also beat Barca this season but that was in a pre-season friendly tournament. This is the Champions League, where everything goes out the window and the stakes are much higher.
If anything should serve as a reminder, it will be VfL Wolfsburg’s 1-1 draw against AS Roma yesterday. Wolfsburg dominates the Frauen-Bundesliga, but this is the season of surprising results. Barcelona look absolutely great – but don’t count FCB Frauen.
Lea Schüller, Klara Bühl and 18-year-old Franziska Kett will form the front line today. Sarah Zadrazil, Lina Magull and Georgia Stanway are in midfield. In defence, from left to right, it’s Carolin Simon, Glódís Perla Viggósdóttir, Tainara and Maximiliane Rall, with Mala Grohs in goal.
Auf geht’s!
