Central Valley family including 8-month-old child kidnapped, officials say – KCRA Sacramento

A Central Valley family of four, including an 8-month-old child, were abducted Monday by someone the sheriff’s office believes is armed and dangerous. The Merced County Sheriff’s Office said the family was taken against their will from a business located in the 800 block of South Highway 59 in the southern region of Merced County. The family have been identified as Aroohi Dheri, 8 months, her 27-year-old mother Jasleen Kaur, her father Jasdeep Singh, 36, and her uncle Amandeep Singh, 39. The sheriff’s office released two images of a person they believe to be the kidnapper, depicting him as having his head shaved and wearing a hoodie. Merced County Sheriff Vernon Warnke in a video update said there were signs the “individuals involved” had destroyed evidence to cover their tracks. On Monday night, Warnke also said Monday night no contact had been made about any demands or ransoms. It’s unclear whether the family knew his captor, but the sheriff’s office is urging people not to approach the family or the captor and instead call 911 if he is spotted.

It is not known if the family knew their kidnapper, but the sheriff’s office is urging people not to approach the family or the kidnapper and to call 911 if they are spotted.

Detectives are scouring the area for leads, and Warnke said planes were also ready to help.
