RB LEIPZIG issued an ominous warning to Celtic ahead of their midweek Champions League clash in Germany – scoring four goals past Bochum.
Leipzig boss Marco Rose had only spoken this week about how he expected a goal return from forwards such as Timo Werner.
Well, Germany international Werner took his advice to heart as he netted twice yesterday, with dangerous Frenchman Chrisoph Nkunku also netting twice in a 4-0 Bundesliga win.
Werner opened the scoring on the quarter hour, before a Nkunku penalty extended Leipzig’s lead.
The former Chelsea star took a 3-0 lead eight minutes into the second half before Nkunku completed the rout.
The magnitude of the victory allowed Leipzig to rest Werner before the end of the clash after his international efforts with the German international team.
It’s just Leipzig’s third mid-table win of the league season – and it couldn’t come at a better time as they bid to kick off their Champions League campaign.
Leipzig have been useless at the bottom of Champions League Group F so far, with the Hoops just ahead of them thanks to their draw against Shakhtar Donetsk.
Everything is to be won, then, in the back-to-back clashes between the two sides.
Nkunku was voted Bundesliga Player of the Year last season after racking up 35 goals and 20 assists in 52 games in all competitions.

But he and the rest of Leipzig’s stellar talent couldn’t stop Rangers knocking them out of the Europa League.
And Celtic hope to pile up the misery against them in midweek.
