There’s no denying that bleached eyebrows are one of beauty’s most polarizing looks, just like the mullet. And yet, in recent years, they’ve gotten surprisingly mainstream, even appearing on the Kardashian-Jenners (much to their fans’ dismay). Like most, Kim, Kendall and co. only experimented with the look temporarily, for photo shoots and catwalks like Marc Jacobs. (Jared Leto has repeatedly whitewashed him for roles and shaved them so many times that he repeatedly feared they’d never come back.) The bolder celebrity, on the other hand, remains committed, notably Kristen Stewart, although Maisie Williams recently joined her to embrace the trend. Take a look at some of the most memorable eyebrow disappearance acts in recent celebrity history, here.

The fact that Cara Delevingne’s bushy brown eyebrows were still her first and main claim to fame only made her more daring only when, like Kendall Jenner, bleached them for Givenchy in 2014.
