Open letter to the leaders of the Group of Seven (UK, France, Italy, Germany, Canada, US and Japan) Calls on countries to allocate at least 20% of their vaccine stocks to poor countries between June and Augustor equivalent 150 million doses.
The G7 summit will be held in the UK on Friday (11).
The celebrity’s message reads: “The world has spent a year and a half battling the COVID-19 pandemic, but the virus continues to spread to many countries and produce new variants, with the risk to send us back to where we started. ”
“This means more school closures, more interruptions of medical care and more economic consequences that threaten the future of families and children around the world,” the text adds.
The signatories, including several UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors, are Liam Neeson, Orlando Bloom, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Whoopi Goldberg.
Singers Katy Perry and Angelique Kidjo and sports stars such as Sergio Ramos, pilot Fernando Alonso and tennis player Andy Murray also signed the letter.
