Dear Carolyn: My boyfriend and I started hosting a weekly movie night, where we take turns picking a movie and watching it together, with snacks, beers, and laughs. Why am I enclosing this expression in quotes? Because even though I witnessed each of my boyfriend’s choices including the very boring one that was just a 90 minute car chase and the one that scared me so much that I didn’t been able to sleep that night, one way or another, it always works that if I choose a movie that he doesn’t want to watch, I end up forcing myself to choose something else instead. Either he sighs and shows in a big way the sacrifice he is going to make by looking at it, or he asks me to choose something from another category because he is “not in the mood” for what I have. selected.
