WILMINGTON, NC (News Release) – Due to lingering public health concerns associated with COVID-19 (Coronavirus), the North Carolina Coaches Association (NCCA) and South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association (SCACA) have canceled 2021 Carolines Classic All-Star Basketball Games. The annual event scheduled for Wilmington, North Carolina, features the best public high school basketball players in North Carolina and South Carolina.
“As happened last year, our concern for the safety and well-being of these young student-athletes, as well as the spectators attending the games from the communities of the two-state region, the coaches and the essential personnel, motivated this decision. said Phil Weaver, co-executive director of NCCA and Shell Dula, executive director of SCACA.
In addition, House of Raeford Farms FLOCK, sponsor of the previous two Carolines Classic events fully supports this decision. “We have appreciated our past involvement with players, coaches and community partners, and we look forward to a return from the Classic in 2022, ”said Tom Teachey, director of community outreach for the House of Raeford sites in North Carolina.
