Carl Froch and Audley Harrison in bitter and surprising Twitter war of words as heavyweights respond to bizarre claim he was knocked out in fight and tells Froch: ‘Joe Calzaghe was on a different level’

Audley Harrison attacked Carl Froch on social media, prompting a response and brief back-and-forths.

The super heavyweight Olympic gold medalist returned to Twitter over the weekend and didn’t hold back on his unfiltered comments grading the boxing world.

In particular, Harrison took aim at his former amateur teammate GB Froch.

Harrison began, “Now there’s a fighter I’m going to blast today.

“@Carl_Froch got really disrespectful when I lost my strength and really twisted it with me.

“I remember when I was Superman and we were in Olympic qualifying and he was basically crying down my shoulders as boxing management wanted him to box in the finals after he qualified.

“I told him, ‘No, don’t, save yourself for the Olympic event.’

“They pressured him and I said, ‘F*** ’em, don’t do it.

“He started playing ball for real and I told him about sports psychology and what book he should read.

“He took that book and became a beast and learned to control his mindset, so do you think he should acknowledge that I helped shape his thinking?

“Instead, he’s starting to disrespect my name and forgetting where it came from.

“When [Andre] Ward tamed it, I was happy, and I’m not normally mean like that, but Froch took the p***.

“Now that Superman is back I let you know @Carl_Froch your behavior was uncool.

“By the way, you would have never beaten @RealJoeCalzaghe, ever.

“He was on a different level, so you gotta drop that shit and move on.”

One fan bizarrely commented, “I know for sure that @Carl_Froch knocked you out in fights.”

To which Harrison replied, “Your mother – Froch couldn’t knock me out then, now or forever – he wouldn’t dare walk up to me – he’s smarter than that.”

Froch then weighed in on the spat himself, replying, “Audley, please stop embarrassing yourself.

“You know I’ve always had love for you, like the big, cowardly, lovable lion from the Wizard of Oz.”

To which Harrison replied, “Oh Carl – I really thought you were gonna come over here and make your peace.

“Are you seriously going?

“I guarantee you right now at least 20 boxers will be backing me right now – that you actually cried crocodile tears on the shoulders of the great Aud in qualifying.

“You needed me.”
