It suddenly became real for the former Heisman Trophy winner, who started as a backup at Oklahoma, then transferred to USC and had a frustrating final season in college before becoming the new big NFL name with huge career goals.

As Williams made his post-draft media tour, he sat in front of a screen to watch a video.

His mother, Dayna Price, suddenly appeared on screen.

“Hey, Caleb,” she began. “I cried a little as I prepared to tell you this message. You must have received this crying from me. But continue to be your authentic self.”

Williams smiles.

Then his mother began to tell the story of her son’s birth.

Within seconds, the new Bears QB was crying again and couldn’t contain his emotions.

“At eight months, you started running,” her mother said. “You haven’t stopped running. … I love the way you’ve progressed in life.”

For over two minutes, Williams shared a very private moment with his mother that NFL fans everywhere would soon see on social media.

The rookie QB kept crying and rubbed both eyes with a tissue.

Caleb Williams opens up about how he ‘lost it’ in emotional viral hug that saw him cry with his mother after her loss

“She’s just been there to support me, she’s been there for me,” he said. “She’s a wonderful woman, my best friend.”

At the end of the video, Williams shared one final message with the woman who always supported and pushed him.

“I love you, Mom,” he said. “Thank you for everything you have done for me.”

Williams previously broke down in tears after USC lost a tough game to Washington.

The young QB’s willingness to publicly display his emotion was controversial ahead of Thursday’s first round of the draft in Detroit.

“He’s that modern quarterback who’s not afraid to (show emotion),” ESPN draft expert Matt Miller told talkSPORT exclusively.

“It’s not like he’s slamming his helmet on the sidelines in frustration. He’s emotional.

“I would take that 10 times out of 10 over a guy bumping his coach in the side or smacking his helmet.”

The second and third rounds of the draft continue Friday.

Williams is expected to be a Week 1 starter for the Bears, who are scheduled to play London at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the 2024 season.
