Volcan Club de Moroni, champions of the Comoros league, have been excluded from the TotalEnergies Caf Champions League this year by the Confederation of African Football.
The decision was communicated Monday, September 26 by the interclub organizing committee of CAF.
“Following the failure of the Volcan Club de Moroni to appear and honor its match of the first preliminary round of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League against FC La Passe, the matter was submitted to the Interclub Organizing Committee of CAF for decision.
“In accordance with the Regulations, the CAF Interclub Organizing Committee has decided to consider the Volcan Club de Moroni as having lost the match.
They were also disqualified from the competition.
The decision was based on Article IX 10.5 which reads as follows: “It is the duty of the visiting team to arrange their travel arrangements in such a way as to enable them to arrive at the venue of the match at a reasonable time before the scheduled date of the match.”
“La Passe FC will automatically qualify for the second preliminary round of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League.
