Red Devils goalkeeper stresses importance of getting a positive result in Radès ahead of home leg
Al Ahly goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy said he understands the quality of his Caf Champions League opponent Esperance Tunis and that his goal is to reach the final.
The Red Devils of Egypt will face the Tunisian giants at the Hammadi Agrebi Olympic stadium in Radès in the first leg of the semi-final on Saturday, the return leg being played on July 25 in Cairo.
Speaking ahead of the game, El Shenawy, who is also the club’s captain, explained the atmosphere in the camp, stressing that the players have always put their desire to retain the title and will focus on winning at two legs.
“We, the players, always talk about our desire to win the Champions League title again this season, we play for Al Ahly and we always play to win,” said El Shenawy as quoted by the club’s official website.

Ahead of the game, Al Ahly confirmed that defender Ahmed Ramadan Beckham will be available for selection after recovering from injury.
“Al Ahly defender Beckham took part in part of the team’s training session on Friday at Hammadi Agrebi Stadium, the site of Saturday’s match between Al Ahly and Esperance in the first leg,” said the club on the same portal.
“Beckham has an adductor muscle injury and had a pre-workout medical check-up. The player joined his teammates in part of Friday’s practice and completed the practice alone under the supervision of the physiotherapist. “
