Byron Jones free agency 2020: Raiders should continue cornerback, report says

The Las Vegas Raiders should place their bet on Byron Jones. According to Vincent Bonsignore of Las Vegas Journal Journal, the Raiders will try to sign Jones in free agency, another contender for the Dallas Cowboys cornerback.

Raiders’ Chances of Landing Jones Strong, Given Over $ 50.3 Million Pay Ceiling Space and the Franchise’s Willingness to Attract Renowned Players to Sin City . Las Vegas will have a new training facility in Henderson which is expected to be completed during the summer and a state-of-the-art stadium is scheduled to open this fall. Jones has the potential to become one of the faces of the franchise in Las Vegas, although the Raiders have had only one playoff appearance since a loss to Super Bowl XXXVII after the 2002 season.

Jones’ free agency market has been hot for the past few weeks as many teams need the best cornerback on the market. The Philadelphia Eagles should be the “most aggressive” team to pursue Jones, but the New York Giants are also in the mix. A source told PatBS of CBS Sports former Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett (now the Giants’ offensive coordinator) is expected to push Joe Judge and Dave Gettleman toward Jones.

Jones is expected to command around $ 16 million per season, making him the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL. The honor currently belongs to Xavien Howard, who makes $ 15.05 million a year after signing a $ 75.25 million, five-year deal with the Miami Dolphins last May.

Per Walker, Cowboys to cap Jones’ supply about $ 12.5 million a year, maybe even $ 13 million a season on a four-year deal. Given Jones’ market, this will not be enough to make a deal in Dallas.
