BTS made history at the Billboard Music Awards. The K-pop group had broken its own record for the most nominations received by a group or duo in a year, after being nominated seven times in six categories at the 2022 BBMAs. It broke another record after scoring three wins at the awards ceremony held in Las Vegas on Sunday. BTS members RM, Jin, Jimin, V, Suga, J-Hope and Jungkook, who skipped the Billboard Music Awards to focus on their next album, won Best Duo/Group, Best Sales Artist of songs and the best-selling song. for the butter. They have now become the most-winning music group in Billboard Music Awards history, with a total of 12 awards, a record that was set by Destiny’s Child with 11 wins 17 years ago. Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams were members of the former group.

BTS takes home three awards at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards.

In 2017, BTS became the first K-pop group to be nominated for and win a Billboard Award. The group has won an award every year since then. They have won Best Social Artist for five consecutive years since their first nomination in the category in 2017. They have also won Best Duo/Group in 2019, 2021 and now 2022. This year they also repeated their Last year. wins in the Top Song Sales Artist and Top Selling Song categories, bringing the total awards to 12.

ARMY congratulated BTS on the historic win, saying, “BTS led the way.” One wrote, “Congratulations on winning three well-deserved awards and more. Seven Kings.” Meanwhile, others applauded them for breaking a record set by Destiny’s Child, which counted Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams as members. The group officially disbanded in 2006.

One fan wrote: “Destiny’s child! A group that Beyoncé was part of! Do you see the impact of BTS? has Beyoncé as one of its members?” Meanwhile, others wondered about a collaboration between BTS and Beyonce. One wrote, “So Beyonce X BTS?”

Despite BTS’ historic win, ARMY still hasn’t forgiven Billboard for questioning the K-pop group’s success. In BTS’ latest interview with Billboard, ARMY was indirectly accused of manipulating the charts in their favor by mass buying their songs. This came after their English song Butter, released in May 2021, became the longest running number 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart after dominating it for 10 weeks.

ARMY continues to be upset about this and also asked Billboard about its decision to remove the Top Social Artist category without any explanation. The Billboard Music Award for Top Social Artist, introduced in 2011, is one of three fan-voted categories at the awards show, based on top fan interactions, music streams, and social engagement, combined. to global online voting results. BTS has won the award for five consecutive years and could have equaled Justin Bieber’s record of six wins had he won in the category this year.

ARMY questioned Billboard’s intentions behind it, writing, “This year would have been 4 wins if Billboards weren’t so threatened and decided to ax Top Social Artist.” Another asked, “So the Top Social Artists award is being eliminated from the category this year for some unknown reason/official reason?” A third wrote, “It’s so obvious that BB has canceled the award for best social artist.”

Meanwhile, BTS is gearing up to release their new album on June 10. The anthology album titled Proof consists of 15 tracks, including several old songs and a new song Run BTS. The main track is titled Yet To Come.
