Clark on Chubb’s injury: ‘It’s very difficult to see’
Ryan Clark joins Scott Van Pelt to discuss what the Browns will be missing with Nick Chubb out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury.
BEREA, Ohio — Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said Tuesday that Jerome Ford is now Cleveland’s star running back following Nick Chubb’s season-ending injury.
The All-Pro injured his left knee in the second quarter of Monday night’s loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Chubb had to be sent off the field. Stefanski declined to specify Chubb’s injury, but said Chubb would need surgery.
Stefanski said the Browns are “working” on adding another player to the running back room, but that Ford will replace Chubb as Cleveland’s leader.
Ford totaled 106 yards on 16 carries Monday, including a 69-yard run that gave the Browns a touchdown. He also caught three passes for 25 yards and scored a touchdown immediately after Chubb’s injury.
“You’re not replacing Nick Chubb,” Stefanski said. “You just don’t do that. The big players in the league, you look around, they’re coming out. It’s still not one person replacing a player of [Chubb’s] caliber. So everyone has to do a little more, a little more everywhere.”
The Browns drafted Ford in the fifth round out of Cincinnati last year.
