The Denver Broncos lost another player to injury as the team placed wide receiver KJ Hamler on injured reserve after he suffered a setback with his hamstring injury, by NFL media. The Broncos have 15 players on injured reserve, which ranks the highest in the league. They would also have the most money on IRs.
Hamler has caught just seven passes for 165 yards in seven games played this season. He hasn’t played since the Week 8 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, in which he caught two passes for 52 yards. Hamler was celebrates wide open receiver Russell Wilson missed the final game of the overtime loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 5.
Penn State’s 2020 second-round pick, Hamler’s best season was his first, as he caught 30 passes for 381 yards and three touchdowns in 13 games played. Coincidentally, a hamstring injury also ended his rookie campaign. In 2021, Hamler suffered a torn ACL in week 3.
Wilson’s play and first-year head coach Nathaniel Hackett’s decisions aren’t the only reasons the Broncos have been arguably the NFL’s most disappointing team this season. Many of the 15 players currently on injured reserve are important, such as offensive tackle Garett Bolles, center Lloyd Cushenberry III, cornerback Ronald Darby, setter Randy Gregory, receiver Tim Patrick and running back Javonte Williams for to name a few.
The Broncos will face Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
