After months of bickering on social media, Britney Spears appeared to reach out to her little sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, in an Instagram post shared on Dec. 2. On Friday, Britney turned 41 and she took the opportunity of her birthday to post a tribute to her 31-year-old sister. Additionally, she also posted separate tributes to her estranged sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James.
Britney’s post included two photos of Jamie Lynn, as well as a message for her sister. “It’s my b-day but you are my heart so I’m thinking of you…congratulations for being so brave, inspiring and showing courage and glory on your show 🎉!!! You are not alone. . . if anyone knows how it feels . . . I get it 🤧🤧🤧 My little sister!!! I love you!!!” she captioned the photos.
The “Toxic” singer’s post has left many fans puzzled since Britney and Jamie Lynn have been feuding since the “Sweet Magnolias” star appeared on “Good Morning America” on Jan. 12 to promote her memoir “Things I Should Have Said”. At the time, Jamie Lynn discussed her older sister’s guardianship and alleged that Britney once locked them in a room with a knife.
“It’s important to remember that I was a kid at that time,” Jamie Lynn said. “I was scared. It’s an experience I had. But I was also scared to really say anything because I didn’t want to upset anyone or anything.”
She went on to say that she “only loved and supported” her sister and couldn’t understand why their relationship had apparently deteriorated. Britney later alleged that Jamie Lynn’s comments about the two of them being in a room with a knife were untrue. “I’ve never seen you with a knife or would I ever think of doing it!!! The only knife I’ve seen you with at home was cutting the biggest pieces of squash I’ve ever seen in my life and it was way too big for me to cut… So please stop with these crazy lies for the Hollywood books!!!” she wrote in a since-deleted tweet.
From there, their feud continued to escalate, with the sisters writing letters to each other and involving lawyers in their dispute. In February, the famous siblings’ posts about each other began to slow, but they never publicly reconciled. Jamie Lynn has yet to respond to her sister’s message. (POPSUGAR reached out to representatives for Jamie Lynn for comment, but did not receive an immediate response.)
Additionally, Britney posted separate tributes to her sons, Sean and Jayden, both of whom she shares with ex Kevin Federline. The boys and their mother have been separated for some time, and Jayden did an interview with ITV in September explaining why he decided to live with his father.
On Friday, the pop star posted photos of her sons on Instagram with the caption, “To my two boys…Love you…I would die for you!!! God quicken my precious heart!!! I would like to give anything just to touch your face!!! I send my love . . . Mamasita.”
Along with the tributes, Britney and her husband, Sam Asghari, also shared more traditional photos and videos from her birthday celebration. The “Baby One More Time” singer posted a video of her hubby surprising her with balloons and cake. “My husband surprised me ✨🎂🎈!!! I have the flu and he came down…he was kinda fucking sweet!!!! I love you 🥰😘!!!! C is Mr and Mrs. Asghari 💍💍💍!!!” she wrote.
