Brad Pitt is getting into the skincare game with the rest of Hollywood. Like Kim Kardashian, Hailey Bieber, Jessica Alba – the list goes on – before him, Pitt created his own brand: Le Domaine, presented as an ultra-scientific and natural approach to anti-aging. The product line was unveiled in an interview with Vogue on September 21.
The Domaine was created with the insight of the Perrin family, organic winemakers in the southern Rhône Valley of Italy; oenology professor Pierre-Louis Teissedre from the University of Bordeaux; and Nicolas Levy, professor specializing in progeria, a genetic disease that causes rapid aging. To supposedly bottle the antidote to wrinkles, the Perrins studied more than 13 grape varieties to identify the combination with the strongest antioxidant effects. The finished formulation includes two almost patented ingredients, GSM10 and ProGR3, which allegedly slow down the aging process.
If the science behind “aging like fine wine” sounds expensive, it certainly is in this case: Le Domaine products range from $80 to $385. The full line of products includes a serum, cream, fluid cream and cleansing emulsion, all vegan and ‘asexual’. (But, isn’t all skincare genderless?) Similar to Kardashian’s Skkn, Le Domaine products also come in reusable packaging.
Unlike the long list of other celebs who have already dabbled in cosmetics, this new business venture is unexpected from Pitt, who has been nearly silent in the beauty space and reportedly resisted showing Vogue how he applies line of beauty products. “I wouldn’t know how to do this unless it was a comedy,” Pitt told the publication.
