It’s not just the people of Glasgow who think the city is the best place in the world to go out at night.
Celebrities from around the world enjoyed a few pints and a dance at some of our favorite nightlife spots.
From Brad Pitt enjoying a romance with a Glasgow woman and ending up at a house party in Drumchapel, to Charlie Sheen, there are a few stories to tell.
Turns out, Brad wasn’t the first world-famous star to appear in the Drum …
Here are some of the other incredible – but true – tales of nights in the city.
Charlie Sheen at Easterhouse
Was it in Charlie’s bad old days – or was it the good old days …? Tabloid allegations of prostitutes, £ 1,000 spent on cocaine, an evening trip to Easterhouse with a lady of the night and other accusations that he attempted to buy a gun. Some might say it’s a standard night in the east. To quote the great man himself: “Win!
Ferenc Puskas in Drumchapel
It turns out the Drum has long been a celebrity hangout and one of the greatest players of all time was also there for a house party in his day. Real Madrid legend Puskas was there with none other than the great Ranger, Jim Baxter. Says the bold Yin: “I couldn’t understand what Jim was saying sometimes, but there was a connection between us and between the supporters.”
Daft Punk and a brush with death
The French duo got their big break from the Glasgow label Soma and have long been welcomed as second son here, playing a few legendary shows at the now sadly defunct Arches. There was a particularly difficult night that slipped into the annals of Glasgow clubbing history as the duo were in particularly bad shape. Thomas Bangalter told Rolling Stone magazine years later that it was the last time he took ecstasy. And that he had almost been hit by a truck.
Tim Burgess with parakeet
Only the brave venture out for an evening in Blochairn. Or should it be the Brave and the Burgess? The Charlatans singer’s surprise DJ set in the Budgie bar had scratched his head in disbelief. Some had words of warning for the singer on social media. He went on to get “the best possible reception” from the native friends.
Eusebio in the city
Another former Rangers star was responsible for bringing one of the world’s other real greats to town. Willie Henderson later said of the man who became a close friend: “We spent an evening in Glasgow when Benfica played for Rangers in a friendly and another time we dated Billy Bremner after Scotland played Portugal in Hampden. ” They remained friends until Eusebio died in 2014.
Willem Dafoe at the subclub
Imagine the scene … you are in the Subby. You can’t move for the people, sweat is pouring from the roof. In fact, such is the heat, your eyeballs seem to be sweating. Through the haze, you see a familiar face. A slightly terrifying face. The one that looks very familiar … “Wait a minute, don’t you Willem Dafoe.” It certainly is. Where was. The actor was working in the city in the early 90s and, according to legend, made a memorable visit to the Sub Club.
Eva Green and Ewan McGregor on Sauchiehall Street
Trainspotting star Ewan of course spent a few nights in Glasgow – notably at the old Volcano, but he made it to the city’s student district for a night out with his co-star Eva Green in 2009. The couple was seen during a concert. in stereo.
Scarlett johansson
There are some great tales around this one, wild nights at Nice’N’Sleazy, dancing in the streets in front of street performers. The American actress was definitely at Sleazys and spent a few evenings on the town. We’re not sure about the dance – although someone swears there’s a video there.
Keira Knightley and Adrien Brody
The actors were in Glasgow filming “The Jacket,” a film about a badly severed Gulf War veteran. So what better way to warm up for the shoot than a night at Vodka Wodka?
