Eddie Hearn admitted that Deontay Wilder is still a “dangerous” fight for Anthony Joshua, but supported his man to “kill him absolutely” if it ever happens.
The promoter did not hesitate in his immediate reaction to their sworn enemy, Wilder, knocked out by Tyson Fury on February 22.
Now, more than a week later, he has assessed how a potential fight between the British and the American could be played out.
Hearn told BoxingScene: “Joshua vs Wilder is always an incredible fight, still very dangerous for Anthony.
“But now I just think [Joshua] would absolutely kill him.
“But again, it’s still a very exciting fight. I just think all that Deontay had, as well as the punch, was that you had to be careful.
“And Fury just walked in and said,” I’m not going to take the trouble to be careful and slap you. “
“But Wilder was terrible. Fury was really good and it was a great game plan.
“But let’s do it right, and I don’t even like to say it because people say” You don’t give Fury credit, “but Wilder was terrible in the first round.”
Joshua vs Wilder won’t be playing anytime soon, as AJ announced his next fight against Kubrat Pulev on June 20.
Wilder has invoked his revenge clause for a trilogy clash with Fury, which is scheduled for July 18.
