This is the longest streak on record without four inches of snow in Boston, and climatologists say we’re losing snow faster than anywhere else in North America. But this record streak should be broken this week.
Two years ago around this time, most places were getting six to eight inches of snow, which is in stark contrast to the warm temperatures we’re seeing this weekend. We’re bracing for another round of weather whiplash here in New England.
Studies show the region is warming much faster than the rest of the continent, leading to significant snow loss and exacerbating global warming. Some scientists believe this could mean the end of classic New England winters within the next twenty years.
