@Nicki Minaj
“Are we fans of Nicki? Of course we are. ‘
As we celebrate the queen of rap, Nicki Minaj, on her 40th birthday, we take a look at our favorite hair moments of 2022. And while Minaj started her career with wild, edgy wigs, her 39 era was full of colorful braids and layered edges.
The “Super Freaky Girl” rapper has had a busy year, from viral moments on singles like “We Go Up” with Fivio Foreign and “Whole Lotta Choppas (Remix)” with Sada Baby to editorial covers for Interview and iD Magazine. And with her busy year came many looks, especially her hair. Collaborating with celebrity stylist Arrogant Tae, Minaj introduced the year with warm auburn extensions, followed by a blonde bob for “Do We Have A Problem” with Lil Baby. We’ve also seen the star flaunt some jet black and Barbie pink halves, a sultry red bun and even a revival of her signature Chinese bangs from the Radiate me Scotty time. Towards the end of the year, we saw her sporting a two-tone bob cut, straight green locks and a super high ponytail.
From the start of her career, Minaj has explicitly shown that “boring” is not in her vernacular. Who could forget the Barbie Harajuku era of baby blue curls from “Hello Good Morning Remix” or the animal prints on the blonde hair she wore in NYFW? Minaj has proven her iconic status since she was born in the industry, and while her style has matured over the years, we’ll always have a trendsetter on our hands, especially with her hair.
