Play-to-Earn game Splinterlands sells over 10 million NFT playing card packs

Play-to-earn (P2E) blockchain game Splinterlands has announced that the project has sold over 10 million packs from the game’s third major map expansion series, Chaos Legion. Splinterlands is a game that leverages cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology to enhance online trading card tournaments.

Splinterlands or NFT cards can be bought and sold through secondary markets and to start playing, new users must obtain a “Summoner’s Spellbook”. The Chaos Legion series cards went on sale eight months ago, on January 17, 2022, and there were only 15,000,000 packs minted.

The Splinterlands Project says the limited availability of the cards after 10 million have been sold marks the “straight line” of the cards in terms of what’s left. Splinterlands co-founder and current CEO Jesse Reich said the team is happy with Chaos Legion’s sales achievement, and the co-founder detailed that the Splinterlands team is looking forward to greater expansion. .

“Hits are coming like a flood these days, and we’re thrilled,” Reich remarked Wednesday. “Our community is phenomenal and we are so grateful for their loyalty and enthusiasm, which is a continuous source of inspiration for our team to continue to co-create this remarkable game with them. We look forward to growing further in the mainstream gaming industry and show the world what Web 3.0 is all about.

Data shows Splinterlands is Gamefi’s fourth largest game by monthly subscribers

The news of 10 million packs sold follows Splinterlands’ partnership with the Major League Soccer Players Association (MLSPA) and Warner Music Group (WMG).

“I don’t think we can underestimate the magnitude of the opportunities around P2E games,” Oana Ruxandra, chief digital officer at WMG, said in late February. “Our partnership with Splinterlands puts the spotlight on our artists and their music as we all work together to develop and sustain symbolic games.”

Additionally, in late September, in the middle of the crypto winter as NFT sales dive-bombed, the Splinterlands card series called Riftwatchers sold out in less than two minutes. Gamefi (the intersection of gaming and finance) has been a popular trend in 2022, as games like Axie Infinity saw billions in sales.

For example, the Axie marketplace has sold $4.25 billion since its inception out of 2,163,241 traders. A recent study shows that Gameta is the latest gamefi project with the highest number of monthly subscribers. While Gameta ranks first, Axie Infinity is fifth, and Splinterlands is fourth in terms of monthly subscribers.
