Blame Taylor Swift’s song for new viral TikTok trend – Parentology

While Taylor Swift released her surprise album, Folklore, last week, a much older song took over TikTok. Swift’s hit “Love Story” is going viral again, despite being released nearly twelve years ago. Why this sudden renewal? The latest trend to take control of TikTok features a sound that is a remix of the famous track.

The audio, named “Love Song Discolines” after a SoundCloud mix, was originally released on July 10, according to Junkee. Now the song has been featured on over a million TikToks.

How to do the “love story” trend

The trend is pretty straightforward. You have to place your phone on a mobile platform (skateboard, car, wheelchair) and roll it away from them while it records. While riding, we usually dance according to our own routine. A typical attempt looks like this:

@brandonlangys

Alfredo: “When are we coming home?” Me: “Now” 😂 ## shuffle ## fyp ## hello @ fredooo0 @beerrats

♬ The love story fades – Ethanishung

However, like many TikTok viral trends, users are doing just about everything they can to stand out from other participants. Some, like user @kyle_xldworth, use aerial drones to film their TikToks from the rooftops.

User credited with starting the trend, @ethanishung, even responded to another user’s participation in the trend. He wrote: “One day when you were vibrating in your bedroom and accidentally kicked off one of the biggest trends of 2020.”

## duo with @jayleepothier the amount of good vibes this trend makes me so happy ## throwingitforward ## GreekFreakOut ## fade ## fyp シ
