On September 15, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds revealed they were expecting baby number four! While the couple are a pretty private celebrity family, we got a glimpse of their gorgeous daughters; and occasionally, Lively or Reynolds will talk about their parenting experiences.
In December 2019, Reynolds told the “Today” show that leaving the house is much harder now. “It gets a lot harder when they ask, ‘Where are you going? When are you coming home? Why are you leaving me?'” The following year, Lively spoke about their children on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” saying their eldest daughter is “very motherly.” “I said to her, ‘You’re going to teach her everything she knows. You’re going to teach her about cities, the sky, flowers and Santa Claus. Anything you want.’ And she’s like, ‘Oh, I didn’t love you, but now I love you.'”
Here’s what we know about the Reynolds girls so far!
James Reynolds
Reynolds and Lively tied the knot in 2012 and welcomed their first daughter, James, on Dec. 16, 2014. The little one made her public debut alongside her parents at Ryan’s Hollywood Walk of Fame Star ceremony just before her second birthday. , and she obviously stole the show in the cutest outfit. In September 2018, we got a glimpse of James’ humor when Blake shared what the toddler thought his parents’ birthday meant.
“I had to explain to my daughter what a birthday is. She said, ‘What is it, does that mean you’re having another baby today?’ and I was like, ‘God, no, it’s not. That means it’s our wedding anniversary.'” She certainly had a little intuition about her future little sister there- down!
Inez Reynolds
Ryan and Lively’s second daughter, Inez, was born on September 30, 2016, less than two months before she would also make her public debut at her father’s star ceremony. Inez got her big sister badge around the time she turned 3, but other than that, we admittedly don’t know much about her. We do just know, though, that Ryan plans to follow her and her sister to college one day, so speed away, Inez!
Betty Reynolds
Although Lively and Ryan didn’t reveal their baby’s name at the time, Ryan hinted that they welcomed another baby girl via Twitter on Oct. 16, 2019. “I love BC, I want my daughters to experience the same natural playground I grew up in,” he wrote, along with a sweet photo of himself, Blake and the new baby.
Then, on July 24, 2020, fans speculated that Taylor Swift revealed the little one’s name in a song from her surprise eighth album, “Folklore.” In a song called “Betty”, the singer uses both the names Inez and James. Because Betty is the only other name in the song, fans speculated that Betty was the name of the couple’s third daughter, and later that day it was confirmed by a source close to the situation that the rumors were true! Since the whole family is a fan of Swift, and James’ tiny voice appears in Swift’s song “Gorgeous” on the “Reputation” album, it’s no surprise that Lively and Ryan let Swift break the secret on the Betty’s name.
In a November 2020 interview, Ryan kind of admitted that Betty was his favorite kid, at least right now. “I have a new baby,” he said of his youngest. “She’s just over a year now, so I really enjoy spending time with her, because it’s fun to watch her grow.” It’s all been said, however, before Betty developed a “Baby Shark” obsession in April 2021. The jury is out on whether she’s still her favorite or not!
