Bindi Irwin is a memorable name for many reasons – because of her late father Steve’s fame, but also because she’s a real celebrity in her own right.
But how did the young wildlife ecologist get her name, Bindi Sue?

It turns out that she was named after two animals very close to her parents’ hearts.
Bindi was the name of a favorite crocodile, while Sue was a revamp of Sui, the name of the family’s pet dog.
The 23-year-old revealed the personal treat in an Instagram post that features her with husband Chandler Powell and their 10-month-old baby girl, Grace Warrior Irwin Powell.
Bindi said she wanted to “reintroduce” herself after an influx of new Instagram followers – she currently has around 4.8 million in total.
“I am a wildlife warrior and have dedicated my life to defending those who cannot speak for themselves,” she wrote.
“Conservation work is my life. It’s not just what I do, it’s who I am. »
Bindi goes on to explain how her parents, Steve and Terri, started endangered species breeding programs and the non-profit organization Wildlife Warriors.
“Our Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital has treated over 100,000 sick, injured and orphaned patients,” she explains in the new post.
“Our goal is to return every animal we treat to the wild.
“We have a rescue unit that responds to animal emergency calls in the local community.
“We get up to 100 calls a day to save everything from sea turtles to snakes.
“Over the years, we’ve done a lot of filming work to raise awareness for our planet.
“My parents started filming The Crocodile Hunter back to the 1990s.
“Fast forward to today after filming hundreds of documentaries and a few movies, doing our best to educate and inspire people to love our natural world.”

Bindi is active on social media, often posting daily.
She says she’s “grateful to give you a glimpse into my family life every day.”
And it seems her new followers are just as grateful.
“I watched your mom and dad when I was younger,” one fan wrote.
“I cried when you were a little girl speaking after your father died.
“My heart swells with love for you and your family.”
“Your dad was my hero,” said another.
“It’s wonderful to see the influence he and your dear mom have had on you, and now on Grace.
“Love and hugs for all you do.”
Steve Irwin died in September 2006 at the age of 44 after being pierced through the chest by a stingray beard.
Bindi recently revealed a new tattoo featuring her father’s handwriting.
It reads “graceful warrior” – the words she said to her baby girl when she “first held her”.
“The words I said to our daughter as I first held her in my arms were ‘My graceful warrior’. That’s how her name was born,” she explained of an element of tattoo design.
“It’s my father’s handwriting to keep it with me, always.
“Our dear alligator, Daisy, stands beside those words to represent our conservation work as Wildlife Warriors.
“And my beautiful blooming wedding ring.
“Validating the three most important things in my life every day: family, purpose, and unconditional love.”
