Hollywood star Bill Murray is best known for a string of box office hits, from Ghostbusters to Caddyshack.
But the crazy golf comedy icon is just as accustomed to smashing golf balls at courses around the world – which is why, on a recent trip to Ireland, when he needed a custom putter, there was only one person he was going to call.
Aaron Leach, a blacksmith based in Islandmagee, County Antrim, began making golf clubs after the pandemic forced a change in his business.
His success earned him a famous new patron, who shot a new golf program in Ireland.
In addition to the putter, Murray had Aaron craft a new trophy, paying tribute to the star’s late brother, Ed.
“He’s just awesome. Really welcoming, really funny, witty,” Aaron said.
“You don’t know if he’s going to joke or tell on you – he’s so funny.”
