NEW YORK (PIX11) – Beyoncé is going on tour for the first time since 2018, giving fans a reason to celebrate, but also putting the beleaguered Ticketmaster to the test.
With stops around the world and across the United States – including locally at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium – the 2023 Renaissance World Tour promises to be a hot ticket. And once the tickets go on sale, much of that demand will fall on Ticketmaster, a long-time source of frustration for movie-goers due to issues like those that hit Taylor Swift’s ticket sales in November.
Demand for Swift tickets has overwhelmed Ticketmaster’s site, leading the company to cancel public sales and frustrating Swifties nationwide.
It also spurred a Senate investigation that saw Ticketmaster bigwigs quizzed last month on whether the company’s industry dominance and 2010 merger with concert promotion titan Live Nation could have fuel the problems.
In a separate but related issue, President Joe Biden called on Congress to address the hefty service fees often added to online ticket purchases for events.
It will soon be Bey Hive’s turn to put Ticketmaster to the test following the Swift fiasco.
Registration for a chance to win tickets to the July 29 stop at MetLife Stadium is open until 11:59 p.m. Thursday.
