Beyoncé tried to stop Lil Mama
Towards the end of Alicia Keys and Jay-Z’s performance, Lil Mama decided to take the stage and pose alongside the duo despite no one other than Beyoncé telling him not to.
Yes, Queen B herself tried to stop Lil Mama from crashing on stage, but the rapper didn’t listen and decided to do it anyway.
An old video appeared on Twitter this week that shows Beyonce and Lil Mama standing next to the stage at the 2009 VMA.
Lil Mama tries to pull Beyoncé on stage with her but she refuses and tries to grab her hand and pull her back.
However, Lil Mama released her hand and fled on stage, leaving Beyoncé shocked at what had just happened.
Beyoncé’s music video went viral Wednesday, December 8 after Alicia Keys tackled the iconic 2009 moment for the first time in years.
In an interview with Complex, she said, “I don’t remember absolutely anything. I think I was so focused on the performance.
She then revealed that she didn’t really know Lil Mama was there, adding, “As far as I can see, we were doing what we planned to do all the time and I’m 100% telling you that I was oblivious to the idea that next to him there was another person.
It wasn’t until they got to the dressing room that Jay-Z told her what had happened, and she didn’t see a clip of it until she got home. .
“I thought it was hysterical to be honest. The daring, the balls are incredible. You have to like this… I thought it was actually a little crazy to be so inspired. she continued.
She also wanted to drag Beyoncé on stage
Lil Mama spoke to Complex after the incident and explained that she tried to train Queen B on stage with her.
“As I’m walking I stop and I’m like ‘come on, come on, let’s go’ to Beyoncé,” she said. “And she said to me, ‘What? She couldn’t believe it.
“I was trying to celebrate the city. Now that I’m a woman, how crazy would it have been if she had been up there? They would have been like, [Beyoncé’s] jealous, she can’t stand to see [Jay Z] with another woman, ”she continued.
“And here I am, someone who isn’t in that frame of mind, who doesn’t think that way, just caught in the moment. I look back and think, damn, she was right. I was tripping.
Why did Lil Mama crash the performance?
12 years later, no one really understands why Lil Mama decided to take the stage and do poetry with Jay-Z and Alicia Keys.
In the aftermath of the event, she spoke to MTV and said, “I want to apologize. I wasn’t trying to be disrespectful… I felt it and it just happened.
She has said many times that she just got carried away and was so inspired by an incredible performance that she wanted to join her.
However, she was heavily ridiculed by fans and prone to a lot of hate on social media.
