Sports betting is back in business in the state of Nevada, and gamblers are wasting no time.
On Saturday, a bettor bet $ 1 million on Amanda Nunes to defeat Felicia Spencer at -600 odds at UFC 250. ESPN confirmed that the bet had been placed in person in an American bookmaker William Hill in Las Vegas. The bet would win $ 166,666.70.
William Hill said it was the biggest bet he had ever taken on an MMA event.
William Hill moved Nunes to a favorite by -650 (Spencer +450) after the bet.
Although this is the fifth UFC event since the sport has returned from a layoff due to the coronavirus pandemic, it is the first with the reopening of Nevada sports betting. State sportsbooks received the green light to reopen Thursday at 12:01 p.m. PST.
Nunes (career record 19-4) is the current UFC bantam and featherweight champion and puts her feather belt into play against Spencer. Nunes has won his last 10 fights and has not lost since September 27, 2014 against Cat Zingano.
