Borussia Dortmund will face Besiktas in their Champions League group stage opener at 12:45 p.m. ET on September 15 at Vodafone Park. There are 32 teams in the group stage divided into 8 groups; the winners and finalists of each group will advance to the round of 16, the third-party teams will continue to the round of 16 of the Europa League and the losers will bid farewell to the tournament. This is the first Champions League game of the season for both teams.
Last year Borussia Dortmund reached the quarter-finals but were eliminated by Manchester City in scores of 1-2 and 1-2. As for Besiktas, they lost in the Europa League third qualifying round against Rio Ave.
