Bentley boss suddenly resigns

[UPDATE] Aston Martin has confirmed that Adrian Hallmark will become CEO no later than October 1, 2024.

Adrian Hallmark was appointed chairman and CEO of Bentley in February 2018. During his tenure, the British ultra-luxury brand’s sales increased significantly, from 9,559 units in its first year to 15,174 cars in 2022. Even though demand fell last year, everything seemed to be going well at the Crewe headquarters. However, the big boss suddenly resigns.

Bentley today issued a press release announcing that Adrian Hallmark is leaving the Volkswagen Group with immediate effect. His successor will be announced “in due course”. According to Financial Times, the former head of Bentley changes brands while remaining in the UK. Hallmark would be named CEO of Aston Martin in the coming months. He would replace Amedeo Felisa, 78, who is expected to retire soon.

This would make Hallmark Aston Martin’s third CEO in four years, given that the previous top brass, Tobias Moers, was hired for the top job in 2020. His departure comes as a surprise since that was ago just days when he spoke with reporters after Bentley’s release. its annual report. As a reminder, the company is postponing the introduction of its first electric vehicle by one year, with the new objective being a market launch in 2026. In addition, the objective of switching to all-electric by the end of the decade was postponed to 2033.

Adrian Hallmark, 61, also worked for Bentley between 1999 and 2005 as a sales and marketing board member. We remind you that the chic British car manufacturer has been a member of the Volkswagen Group since 1998 before coming under the Audi Group umbrella alongside Lamborghini in 2022.

“Bentley has had a great influence on me. Redefining the luxury mobility of the future with such a strong brand is a task that I have undertaken with full commitment and great pleasure. Now is the right time for me to turn to new challenges. I would like to express our warm thanks to the entire Bentley team for everything we have accomplished together over the past few years.”
