Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster gave 12-year-old Molly a day she will never forget by following through on her promise to make her a mascot for the Liverpool game.
The wheelchair-bound girl accompanied Foster to the field before the Hornets had the biggest upheaval of the season so far with a 3-0 victory over the Reds.
And it turned out that she told Foster that she wanted to go to the Liverpool game at Vicarage Road in December.
Watford posted a video of the 36-year-old goalkeeper surprising Molly and her brother at their house around Christmas, before promising to sort them both out for the game against Jurgen Klopp’s team.
But it was much more than just a mascot experience for Molly.
Foster made sure she was greeted by all players, staff and experts at Vicarage Road, then sent her to the field with a special message.
“Are you all right, beautiful girl?” he said. “Not nervous?” You look at a million, that’s why. “
The pair even shared a joke about Molly ruining the field with his wheelchair.
Leaving the tunnel, Foster said, “You will leave wheel marks all over the field!”
Foster has always been a hero on and off the pitch for Watford.
Last season, he came to the rescue of an elderly person with dementia after returning from a game.
Foster, his wife Kate and his father were driving and saw the man walking on a two-lane road, before turning to help him.
