Belgian FA publish advert for national team job after Roberto Martinez leaves following World Cup disappointment

The Belgian FA have posted an online advertisement for their vacant position as national team manager.

Roberto Martinez quit the job following their exit from the World Cup group stage in Qatar, in office since 2016.

The decision was made before the tournament even started.

Their search for his successor now appears to be already underway as they look to move quickly from their disappointment in Qatar.

As reported by The Athletic, the Belgian FA have posted an online announcement to find their new head coach.

The Royal Belgian Football Association [RBFA] said: “Even after the early elimination at the World Cup in Qatar, the RBFA remain very ambitious for the future.

“The RBFA is looking for a full-time national team coach who knows how to win.

“The new national team coach is extremely ambitious and has the necessary international experience at the highest level, knowledge and tactical knowledge of football as well as the right personal skills.

“He’s a serial winner with experience managing top players. He knows how to focus on building a tight group and integrating young players.

“The football association is looking for a tactical expert who supports their choices with objective data, technology and parameters and draws on the sporting expertise and structure of the RBFA.”

Belgium failed to qualify for the group stages of this year’s World Cup, finishing behind eventual semi-finalists Morocco and Croatia.

Many believe it’s also the end of their ‘golden generation’, especially when players like Eden Hazard retire from international football.

Euro 2024 will likely be their next major tournament, with a new manager expected to step in and take the reins.
