Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid: Gnabry back, Sané uncertain for UEFA Champions League semi-final – Sportstar

Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel says striker Serge Gnabry will “play and score” in Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final first leg at home to Real Madrid, but Leroy Sané’s status for the match is uncertain.

Gnabry scored a goal in Bayern’s 2–2 draw against Arsenal in the first leg of the quarter-finals on April 9 before suffering a muscle injury. Tuchel said he would return next week but did not reveal whether he would start.

Former Manchester City winger Sane, however, is less likely to feature due to a pubic bone injury, with Tuchel saying Bayern have to “take it day by day”.

Central defender Dayot Upamecano is also doubtful after spraining his ankle in training. Six-time European champions Bayern are already without Kingsley Coman, Sacha Boey and Bouna Sarr for the match.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s home game against Eintracht Frankfurt, Tuchel refused to be guided by rumors that former Manchester United and RB Leipzig manager Ralf Rangnick is set to take over. management of Bayern this summer.

Tuchel is expected to leave at the end of the season but has said he is avoiding noise about his replacement and focusing on football.

“I put my headphones on noise canceling and ignore it. The topic won’t help me tomorrow or Tuesday – and it’s not my topic anyway. The next 11 days can only be devoted to football.
