Ballboy bizarrely ‘replaced’ during Rangers match for cheekily cheating on Leon Balogun

A ball boy has been removed from Rangers’ match against St Mirren after deceiving defender Leon Balogun.

The youngster was sitting at the side of the pitch when the ball went out of touch and ended up at his feet.

Balogun then approached him to collect the ball and take the throw-in, but he decided to make a cheeky move,

He handed the ball to the Rangers defender before throwing it away as soon as the Nigerian reached out to him.

The crowd responded with cheers as Balogun looked back and sarcastically applauded the ball boy who remained seated on his stool.

Play continued after the incident, but two minutes later a member of St Mirren staff intervened.

She was seen walking away with the boy behind her, apparently after telling him he could no longer be part of the game.

He left the field with a ball under his arm and the commentators made fun of his “substitution”.

As he walked away, the home fans booed and clapped and the Sky Sports commentary team explained the situation.

They said with a laugh: “Those boos had to do with replacing the ball boys there.

“Our friend with the mohawk has just been kidnapped!”

Whether this is a permanent “replacement” for the ball boy remains to be seen, but he will certainly be criticized.

At the time the scores were tied at 0-0, but Rangers would take the lead thanks to a James Bolton own goal.

Mikael Mandron then equalized for St Mirren, making the score 1-1 at half-time.

Rangers are in the middle of a title battle with bitter rivals Celtic and trail them by two points in the Scottish Premiership.

This is a must win for the Gers, so they will want all the ball boys to be at the top of their game!.
